MBA in Pastoral Planning and Church Management

The MBA in Pastoral Planning and Church Management has been designed to provide church leaders, councils and staff members with the foundational skills needed to shape and guide the institutional objectives of their religious organization to achieve its desired pastoral mission. This online learning curriculum will develop an understanding of the core components of organizational planning processes in church settings.

Rev. Dr. David Couturier, OFM. Cap., is Dean R. Hoge Professor of Pastoral Planning and Church Management.  Dr. Couturier offers e-tutorials for the MBA curriculum as well as supervising students during the research and writing of their MBA exit projects.  He serves as the Dean of the School of Franciscan Studies at St. Bonaventure University in New York.  Some of Dr. Couturier’s most recent academic activities are as follows.

  • keynote lecturer at the Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities in Indianapolis, presenting on “The Institution in the Mind: University Culture, Strategic Planning and the Franciscan Imagination”
  • keynote lecturer at the Franciscan Federation gathering of more than 500 Franciscan women and men, with a paper on “Naked in the Public Square: Millennials and the Hope for a New Franciscan Economy”
  • offered a three day workshop for the “New Generation of Franciscan Mentors” on “Mentoring: Meeting the Changes and Challenges of Mentoring Today”
  • His 2015 book, “Franciscans and their Finances: Economics in a Disenchanted World” has gone into its second printing.
