GTF courses: Independent Study option for students

What is Independent Study?

Independent Study is a special study option that allows students to propose a course of their own creation. Students have the opportunity to develop the topic of their academic investigation on their own without a faculty tutor.  Students choose readings to complete, (subject to approval by GTF faculty), and can earn one Unit of Study per course completed.

Who can take this course?

Any GTF student in any degree program may propose an Independent Study course. Students must adhere to specific guidelines which includes identification and proposal of a topic of study submitted to the Office of the Registrar, completion of a paper, and more.
