Rabbi Dr. Howard Addison is Gershom Scholem Professor of Jewish Spirituality at the Graduate Theological Foundation. He is a founding teacher and co-director of Lev Shomea, the first institute for training spiritual directors in the Jewish tradition, affiliated with the Elat Chayyim Center for Jewish Spirituality at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center in Falls Village, Connecticut. The Graduate Theological Foundation and Lev Shomea have enjoyed a longstanding P.R.I.M.E. affiliation whereby GTF students may complete their coursework through Lev Shomea toward a Doctor of Ministry in Jewish Spiritual Direction from the Foundation.
Rabbi Addison served as the last student assistant to Abraham Joshua Heschel and has written several books on the topics of spiritual direction, the Enneagram and Kabbalah.
His latest books include Jewish Spiritual Direction: An Innovative Guide from Traditional and Contemporary Sources (Jewish Lights Publishing, 2006), co-authored with Barbara Even Breitman, and The Enneagram and Kabbalah: Reading Your Soul, 2nd revised and expanded edition, (Jewish Lights Publishing, 2006).
