Recently, Dr. Jeremiah Murasso spoke with us about the new field of pastoral logotherapy and its applications. Dr. Murasso visited the GTF in March as part of our thesis defense panel. He serves as Robert C. Leslie Professor of Pastoral Logotherapy at the GTF and teaches in our Graduate Center for Pastoral Logotherapy. (A transcript of the video is available below, and other videos of Dr. Murasso, our students and faculty, and related videos are available on the GTF’s YouTube Channel.)
The Graduate Center for Pastoral Logotherapy offers a Doctor of Ministry, Doctor of Psychology, and Doctor of Philosophy in Pastoral Logotherapy. The Center is an Accredited Member of the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis of the Viktor Frankl Institute in Vienna, Austria.
It focuses on questions about the meaning of the moment. Too often, medicine focuses on a cure to one’s ailments, but logotherapy — pastoral logotherapy, specifically — focuses on giving meaning to that moment where that spark of joy as one remembers one’s past and relives it, even for a moment. And that really is the strength of Viktor Frankl’s logotherapy, and that’s what we try to do as practitioners of logotherapy.
